  • Ensuring that all menu items meet operational standards

  • Skating Carhops are unique to the SONIC brand and bring a special “surprise and delight” element to the guest experience.
  • Skating Carhops must complete the SONIC Skating Training Program.
  • Upon successful completion of this program, Skating Carhops perform the above duties while roller skating.

Crew Member

Like a Grilled Chicken Wrap, the Crew Member position is a savory plethora of responsibilities rolled into one. You’ll work Fountain & Frozen, Food Production, Grill, Fryer, Switchboard and, if applicable, Drive-Thru. Duties may include:

Assistant Manager

There are two kinds of people in this world: SONIC employees and those who wish they were SONIC employees. This elite group gets to work with awesome people, earn great pay, and sport the cool uniform.

Being an Assistant Manager is the cherry on top of a Strawberry Banana Split Molten Cake Sundae. You’ll assist the drive-in’s General Manager in managing drive-in operations. You will also be involved in training and supporting other employees to ensure we provide quality food in a clean, safe and efficient manner. We want every guest to have an enjoyable dining experience every time they come to SONIC. Basic job duties include:

  • Manages, trains, monitors and coaches crew members, carhops and skating carhops
  • Directs and assigns drive-in employees as needed to ensure all aspects of service meet operational standards

Certified Training Manager

Are you a master of mozzarella sticks? A sensei of slushes? Pass on that valuable knowledge as a Certified Training Manager/Partner. You’ll be responsible for operations, training and development of all employees within a SONIC Drive-In, along with management trainees for the SONIC system. You’ll lead the charge, showing all drive-in employees how to provide quality food in a clean, safe and efficient manner, ensuring that our guests will have an unforgettably enjoyable experience.

Essential job duties:

  • Manages, trains and coaches drive-in employees, management and conducts orientation.
  • Trains and coaches and trains management trainees to successfully complete the required Stage Training
  • Directs and assigns drive-in employees and management to perform all duties in the Basic Stations (Fountain & Frozen, Dresser, Front Swamp, Back Swamp, Grill, Switchboard, Expeditor, Food Prep, Carhop, Skating Carhop and if applicable Drive-Thru) as needed and depending on store volume, during a shift to ensure the preparation (portion control), temperature, packaging, appearance, presentation, taste and service of all menu items meet operational standards.
  • Adheres to and monitors employee compliance of the drive-in employee handbook, policies and practices. Takes appropriate action to address employee issues and policy violations and immediately reports all employee issues, complaints and policy violations to his/her immediate supervisor.
  • Performs opening and/or closing duties to standard.
  • Monitors and makes appropriate adjustments to staffing levels during assigned shift.
  • Prepares employee work schedules in a timely manner to ensure continuous ability to properly serve guests in accordance with Sonic Drive-In policy and applicable law.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory levels to ensure product availability and portion control. Places orders for food, paper and other supplies within cost control procedures.
  • Monitors performance of vendors.
  • Completes and maintains all drive-in employment-related records and payroll records.
  • Reinforces the importance of placing guests’ needs first to drive-in employees on a consistent basis.
  • Immediately resolves guest requests and complaints in a respectful manner.
